Jose Ignacio Tolentino is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in medical technology at Manila Central University in the Philippines. He took HMX Fundamentals Immunology to improve his understanding of key topics both to get ahead in his current studies and to better prepare for medical school.

The clinical significance, the videos with the patients were helpful, they were particularly easy to understand; it was like you’re in a clerkship or somehow you’re there, and you have to take note of what the doctor’s saying. And after that, short quizzes. It’s very different from our learning materials here in the Philippines, because most of the time [here] it’s just case studies, but there are no real patient interactions with videos like with HMX.

The course was a mix of easy and challenging topics, but everything was covered from scratch and at the level of a high school understanding.

It helped me to better understand the basic sciences; studying it in advance is a great help to medical students. It also helped me grow my academic network – because of HMX, I had the opportunity to interact with students from Harvard Medical School answering wonderful questions and helping their fellow students during the course.

I highly recommend HMX to students who have passion and are seeking high-yield knowledge. Aspiring and current medical students can benefit from greater knowledge of fundamental topics, taught by renowned professors such as Dr. Shiv Pillai. Also, there are partial tuition waivers available to students who may need it.
