As a medical representative at Servier, Mina Mutran draws on his knowledge of pharmacy regularly. With his company moving into new therapeutic areas, he took HMX Pro courses to understand the latest medical science applications and position himself for the next stage of his career.

I don’t have any background when it comes to oncology, but our company has developed a medication in the oncology field. I am preparing myself for any chance, inside or outside my company, to shift to this product line. It will be a great step forward in my career.

What made me really interested in these courses is the reputation of the faculty itself, and if the Harvard Medical School certificate could be achieved, that’s something that I was looking forward to. An achievement such as this gave me personal fulfillment besides the portfolio boost.

At the beginning it was very challenging, especially because it’s been a long time since I sat down and committed to study. Adding to this is that I was not used to online courses. I have learned the old-fashioned way, in a physical classroom with students and professors present which provided motivation and competition. Even though I am a pharmacist and graduated from a pharmacy school, understanding some of the scientific terms and theories, especially in the oncology or autoimmunity parts, was another obstacle I faced. However, our professors have put tremendous effort to deliver the message as simply and comprehensibly as possible. Moreover, the glossary provided and the videos’ structure were very helpful in grasping the meanings and course contents.

Gradually adapting to the new learning style, and with strict persistence, the courses started to become smooth and easy to follow.

Juggling a day job and family responsibilities with the courses was a heavy burden. Proper time management and prioritizing helped me concentrate my efforts and not lose confidence. Accessing the course videos from practically anywhere and anytime made the target of completing the course achievable.

The courses exceeded my expectations. I wasn’t expecting that the courses would have that much information, especially the practical videos where we went into interviews between the doctors and the patients. I just believe that it was the right choice to go into these courses.
