HMX Courses
Aayush Ojha is an undergraduate biotechnology major at Kathmandu University in Nepal, with plans to work in biochemistry and molecular biology research. While his school was on break during the COVID-19 pandemic, he took HMX online courses to improve his understanding of key topics.
Why did you find the HMX courses useful for your learning?
While I was learning about biochemistry I was learning the theoretical aspects of biochemistry here at my university. The way the [HMX] videos were made – the pace, and the interaction with patients, actually made me connect the theoretical aspects that I’m learning [at university] with how the diseases are being treated. I could connect those two aspects, and that was quite beautiful and nice from this course.
How have you been able to apply what you’ve learned?
I took the classes during my lockdown period; my university classes were halted for quite some time. I actually attended the biochemistry lectures [at university] and there was a gap before the exams – my classes were complete, but my exams were yet to be. So I spent time understanding the concepts and ideas and how we can connect the simple biochemistry to the diseases that are very common actually in Nepal, the diseases that were discussed in the HMX course. And that actually made me quite confident to appear in my exams.
Do you see other students benefiting from these courses?
Definitely, because university lectures can be quite repetitive…so for my peers here, they would definitely find the conceptual approach [of HMX courses] interesting; they would love it.
